United Edge Victory In Seven-Goal Battle
By Russ Watkin
Greenbacks are just good enough in an unpredictable game
Neither side really got a stranglehold on this game as both teams had chances to add to the eventual seven-goal tally which saw Bedworth just prove to be the better finishers when needed.
It was the visitors who got their noses in front after an error but Bedworth bounced back with two goals from Tettey
, who was in the right spot on both occasions to finish, but right on half-time Barrow drew level after breaking smartly.
For the early stages of the 2nd-half neither side could really impose themselves on each other, the game became hurried with too many errors from both sides in advanced areas, Yonus
should of scored when in on goal, he screwed a great chance wide, a great driving run from Robinson
saw his cut-back run across the Barrow six-yard box with no one on hand to finish.
United to their credit drove forward in numbers but lacked the quality finish in their opponents box, then a stroke of luck got them the lead again in the game, it was Robinson
who created the goal, his run into the box saw his cross-shot clip the heel of Adams and deflect into the Barrow goal (OG).
With 15 minutes remaining United still pressed forward and it was Robinson
who was a constant threat to the visitors, his clipped shot from 20-yards nearly catching out Yates (GK) who parried under his crossbar, the keeper then minutes later being caught out by a powerful 22-yard drive from Robinson
as he pushed the shot into the net to see United go 4-2 up.
With 5 minutes remaining Barrow set nerves jangling when Sutek finished a good move from inside the six-yard box to make it 4-3, the home side just needed to run the clock down but kept giving the ball away in midfield areas, the visitors however could not create another chance, in fact in the dying moments of the game both Tetty
went close for the home side who had just done about enough to take the points.
