The Young Greenbacks secure a point away to Tile Hill United.
Tile Hill 2 BUFC Jnr’s 2
This morning seen us take on Tile Hill United away on a cold and windy morning.
The pitch was in fair condition despite the amount of rain all week, only one of the goal mouths had a slight puddle in.
Bedworth got the game underway and both teams started well in windy conditions, we started to get the ball moving with some great play and movement but our final pass or shot letting us down. As Tile Hill had the wind with them they were playing the ball over the top but Tom was clearing the ball well. They got a corner and we cleared the initial cross but they put it back in but we only cleared to the edge of the box and never followed our man and he turned and put the ball in the back of the net 1-0 Tile Hill. The lads now needed to break back to make it level and a few minutes later Maddox put a ball through their back line and Kayne sprinted passed all there back line and from the edge of the box lifted the ball over the keeper, a great finish to make it 1-1.
We were having most of the play even with the wind against us. We were pushing for the next goal even with our opponents putting in a few dirty challenges on and off the ball but the lads were not reacting to it just getting on with playing their game. They played a long ball over our back line around the half way line and there forward beat our defenders to the ball running in one on one with Tom and he managed to get it passed him 2-1 to Tile Hill.
The lads weren’t happy as they know they were the better team. Just before half time we got a corner and a great delivery from Ethan and a bit of a scramble in the box and Will managed to get the ball and slot it into the back of the net 2-2. The half time whistle went, the lads came in and were not too happy with the challenges from one of the opponents who was spoken to by the ref at half time.
We just needed to do the same keep moving the ball around and play the through ball for our wingers and forward to run on to.
Tile Hill got the 2nd half underway and it started the same with Bedworth with most of the ball, the lads were moving it around well trying the get the 3rd goal. There wasn’t much coming the other way in this half from Tile Hill and our lads were again getting some rough treatment from the home team. The lads were still pushing for the winning goal but we could just not get the ball in the back of the net. The weather started to get worse with hail and rain now starting to come down, the ref called the managers in and asked if we were happy to carry on so we both got our teams together and asked them and the were happy to carry on. So the game started again and straight away the same player which was spoken too at half time was up to the same again so the ref had a word with there manager and he took him off. We got the ball through to Kayne out on the left but the wind took it a bit and he could only hit the side netting. The game was about to end and with the ball around the half way line Freddie made a challenge with would have been a foul but the ref blew for full time, only then for the lad who was fouled to get up and punch Freddie then kick him and try to punch him again. Freddie did not react great credit to him and then the lads parent came on to the pitch and threatened Freddie, but again he did not react and the parent was reminded she needs to stay off the pitch and not to have ago at any child on the pitch. I took all the lads off the pitch to do our end of game team talk, which was a fair play to the lads not to get involved with what went on. BUFC Jnr’s doing the club proud, well done lads.
Goals from Kayne and Will.
Man of the match Freddie, great performance and great maturity not to react to violence.
