Under 12's Struggle against A League Coundon Court
By Dean Wainwright
Bedworth Under 12 Juniors with an away friendly to Coundon Court
The under12 Juniors with a week off from League matches arranged a friendly with Coundon Court this morning, with only one sub we knew this was going to be a tough fixture, but the lads were hungry for the challenge. The first 15 minutes both sides were totally equal and it was difficult to see that they were a league apart, but then the Greenbacks started to get a bit sloppy and failed to track back and a shot came in and Tom made the initial save but the ball bobbled out of his arms and across the line to give the hosts the advantage.
Heads immediately dropped and just 5 minutes later we allowed Coundon far too much of the ball in front of goal and were punished for it, with no one putting in the challenge Coundon fired home their second goal. Out of probably 15 or so goal kicks we only managed on one occasion to get t the ball before Coundon did and we found ourselves constantly fighting to get the ball back, that's not to say we had moments of magic but we were just unable to find the back of their net. Coundon had a long range ball floated into our box Tom came out and punched the ball but the challenge had come in from a Coundon attacker, the two clashed and Tom went down clutching his neck. It took a couple of minutes to get Tom back to his feet but he carried on.
Just on the stroke of half time Coundon came down the wing and Bedworth stopped thinking the ball had gone out for a corner and stopped instead of waiting for the whistle, the only issue was Coundon continued to play and found themselves the room to walk the ball into the box and shoot, heads were very low as the whistle blew for half time and we found ourselves 3-0 down.
Mark and I did our best to pick them, if we played the way we did for the first 15 minutes we could really give Coundon a run for their money. The lads went out with fire in their bellies and started the second half the way we started the first half and we were causing all sorts of problems for Coundon, then Ethan lofted a ball down to the far wing, Kayne who had, had a great game so far took the ball and ran, he looked up, we all thought he was going to shoot, but no he saw Harry coming in quick and in a better position on goal so switched play to Harry who stumbled over the ball but then regained composure and scored the sweetest goal of the match.
The game then went end to end and no one was able to break the deadlock and the score stayed 3-1 to Coundon.
A great game and great effort by all the lads, some things to work on but they were all awarded Player of the Match for picking their heads up and bringing the game in the second half.
